Challenge #2
In your own space, talk about your fannish origin story. Post your answer to today’s challenge in your own space and leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.
Depedends on what you consider fannish. But finding Undertale fanart on our 3DRS & wanting to know where it's from caused us to becomes fans of the game & wish to consume more content. So Undertale is our first fandom where we engaged with the fandom.

Date: 2025-01-04 10:17 pm (UTC)A thing I'd have to keep in mind is "what magic do humans have?". In a discussion I had with somebody, an idea that came out of it was that monsters were the actual intended creations of the gods or something. But leftover magic had infused with clay & water, causing humans to appear.
The gods were ready to allow humans to stay, but humans figuered out how to edit the code of reality, including how to time travel or "SAVE" (this is possible because their more solid bodies can handle Determination much better). It would explain how no monsters were killed in the human-monster war at least.
But after humans sealed the monsters underground, they edited reality again to make time travel impossible & thus, keep their victory forever (unless you count the unpatched underground, which still allows humans to time travel). They then became the dominant species of the planet.
Other ideas IDK where to put:
- The monster calender & human calenders differ (possibly The monster calender starts at the year they've been entrapped).
- The 6 other fallen humans are much older then Frisk & Chara (15~17 in comparison to 11-ish).
- All the fallen humans come at least a decade after each other, meaning all of them are from diffrent time-eras (I think Between Chara & Frisk there could be about 100 year diffrence).

I like the idea that humans were accidental and from of the leftovers. I feel it'd make for a good exploration about themes like identity, what makes monsters and humans so different and similar, the respective species' place in the world and all that.
them learning to kinda hack the system is interesting too. it makes sense to me like "yeah humanity would do that, huh" and I think it fits with how technically they're the otherworldly ones in the setting.
the calendars being different would also be fun to explore! like different holidays and names for the months and stuff. if this were a fangame, I can imagine a little easter egg of Asgore or the lab or something having an old preserved calendar artifact from before they were all sealed, with flavor text implying there was one calendar when they were all coexisting before the war or something.
also the fallen humans coming at different decades is something I headcanoned when I was still immersed in the fandom and canon, so that'd be pretty cool to see in stuff! it sounds like it'd be a really interesting AU if you ever make it a thing.
